George Henry Stringer ( 1903-1993)

Landscape artist in watercolour. Born Salford, Manchester. Attended Manchester Grammar and Art Schools. Trained as a lithographic artist. Resident Hampstead, then Welwyn Garden City 1930-93. Commercial and advertising artist until 1940. Worked on wartime training films for the War Office. Returned to commercial art in the 1950s. Life member of the London Sketch Club. He used his middle name and was known as Henry Stringer. Produced posters for BR.

Produced artwork for LNER Post-War series.
