Frank Sherwin (RI, RSMA, BWS 1896-1986)

Marine & landscape painter in oil & watercolour, poster designer. Born Derby 19/5/1896, son of Samuel S Sherwin (painter). Educated Derby and studied at Derby School of Art and at Heatherleys 1920. Exhibited from 1926 to 1940. Served in WW2 as camouflage advisor around East Anglian airfields. Lived at Cookham, Berks for many years. Prints were produced from some of his artwork by various companies. Achieved a prolific output of art for the railways. Died Slough, 1986. Produced posters for GWR, LMS, LNER & BR.

Produced artwork for LNER Post-War, LMR (B), S Region (B), Scottish Region, W Region series.
