Sir Henry George Rushbury (RA, RWS, RE 1889-1968)

Painter in watercolour, etcher & draughtsman of architectural subjects. Born 28/10/1889 at Harborne, Birmingham. Studied stained glass design and mural decoration at Birmingham College of Art 1903-09, later working as assistant to Henry Payne (RWS). Settled London 1912. First one-man show held at Grosvenor Gallery in 1921. Studied Slade School for 6 months under Tonks. Became member of RWS in 1926. Worked home and abroad and represented in many public collections. Created CVO 1955, CBE 1960, KCVO 1964. Lived London, Sussex and Essex. Produced posters for LMS, LNER & BR.

Produced artwork for LNER Pre-War, LNER Post-War series.
