Donald Maxwell ( 1877-1936)

Painter, illustrator & writer. Educated Manor House School, Clapham Common and studied S.Kensington, London and Slade School 1897. Was naval correspondent of the Graphic for 20 years. Official artist to the Admiralty, World War One. Accompanied the Prince of Wales on his tour of India and illustrated many guides and books. A biography of him by Michael Ffinch has been published. Lived Twickenham, Middx, Rochester and Maidstone, Kent. Produced posters for GWR, LMS & SR.

Produced artwork for Southern Railway Original series.
