William Douglas Macleod ( 1892-1963)

Landscape painter in oils & pastels, etcher & catoonist. Born Clarkston, Renfrewshire 1/1/1892. Educated Greenock Academy. Worked in bank 1906-15 and was then in Royal Artillery in WW1. Took up art and studied at Glasgow School of Art 1919-23 under Griffenhagen. Cartoonist for Glasgow Evening News 1920-30. Influenced by James McBey, he etched from his home in Lenzie, Renfrewshire c1913-49 and abroad. Represented in a few public collections. The Fine Art Society in London published his etchings in the 1920's. Produced posters for BR.

Produced artwork for Scottish Region series.
